Private Gouache Class
Private Gouache Class
Gouache is an opaque watercolor, easily accessible to beginners. I am offering three-hour private lessons in my studio. Typically classes are weekday or weekend mornings from 10 am -1 pm, but I can be flexible on the timing. All levels are welcome. We commonly work from a still life set up, but I open to other subjects. I am interested in helping each student paint in the way they are most excited about, giving them the tools and skills they need to bring their vision into reality.
My teaching philosophy is built upon a foundation of curiosity, playfulness, and the belief that painting is for everybody. My goal is for students to gain an appreciation for the medium, a better understanding of composition and color mixing, and a willingness to make mistakes and have fun in the process. All materials provided.
Testimonial from my friend and art student Kat Good-Schiff:
"Sometimes, even if you’re a writer who loves words, expressing yourself without words can feel like the perfect thing. So I was really grateful for the opportunity to have a gouache painting lesson last week with @lauren_kindle!
She explained how to mix colors and then build a composition starting with abstract shapes and gradually adding details. Every time I got tense or worried or perfectionism creeped in, she encouraged experimentation and looseness.
So look out world, I have some new paints and I’m (mostly) not afraid to use them!
The first two pics show the progress of my painting, and the other two are the demo painting she let me take pictures of at various stages. If you have the chance and interest to study with her, do it! The rich colors of gouache are really satisfying." -- Kat Good-Schiff
